Affiliate Marketing
With the global economy still in the state it is, more and more people are looking for ways to make ends meat and for many people the realization has come that maybe their main income just isn’t cutting it any more. This perhaps explains why more and more people are quitting their day jobs or looking for a part-time job and extra income online. Many people will try setting up blogs, as this is what they’ve heard is a less “in your face way” of making a bit of extra cash. Perhaps they will try setting up a few niche blogs and sticking some Adsense on their, and seeing how that goes. Unless they’ve picked a really high traffic niche, and chosen a good SEO friendly domain, and done their keyword research, it’s more than likely their Adsense project will bring in nowhere near the anticipated revenues they were hoping. In my opinion, if you’ve set up a blog that brings in $1-$5 per day then you’ve done alright. But we all know this isn’t enough to bring in the thousands of dollars a month you’ve been promised by internet marketers. Of course if you had 50 blogs bringing in a steady amount each day, then it may be a different story. But as you’ve probably gathered by now setting up just one blog and adding content to it on a regular basis is time consuming enough.
So what should you do, should you abandon all hope of making some decent money online and stick with the day job? Well, my advice is no you shouldn’t. Unfortunately, many people seem to think that they will earn their thousands of dollars by a press of a button in the online marketing game. I don’t know who is to blame for propagating this view, but quite simply it just ain’t true. If you’ve gonna make even your first hundred dollars online, it requires determination and a hard working attitude. Whatever, you choose whether it’s adsense, rewriting PLRs and selling them, selling info products such as Ebooks and Video tutorials or affiliate marketing you should try seeing it through. If what you’re doing isn’t working, then sit down and think long and hard as to what the reasons could be for your chosen project falling short of your expectations. And indeed, most of the stuff I have done online have fallen well below my expectations. There’s been times when I’ve got really excited about launching a new website, only to find that it’s getting no traffic and no commissions. Instead of scrapping the project completely, I look for possible reasons why it’s not working and try to come up with solutions to fix the problems. If what I implement still doesn’t work, then I try something else and if that fails perhaps I’ll look at the niche market I’m in, and ask is this what people really need and want now?
Affiliate Marketing
Becoming an affiliate of a product or service you believe will do well is one way to get good targeted traffic to your site and perhaps build up your email list and more importantly get the commission revenue in. However, before choosing to become an affiliate there are several things you need to think about. Firstly, whichever affiliate product you’re looking at whether it’s a medical hair loss treatment, or perhaps an Ebook on dating tips, make sure you ask yourselves is this a market where there is a desperate need for the product or service. Someone who explains this concept very clearly is Alexis Dawes in his: ‘Desperate Buyers Only’ Guide. Also you want to make sure that you whatever means your choose to promote your affiliate product, there’s an effective way of tracking all your referrals be it through Analytics or other tools. If the retailer offers a phone number in which customers can place their order, then you need to ensure that some level of transparency is operated. For example, the person that picks up the phone has to ask where the customer found out about the offer. If you choose to run an Adwords campaign, then you need to make sure that there’s a sufficient profit margin involved in your marketing efforts. It’s no good if each conversion you make from Adwords results it in costing more than you actually make from the affiliate commission. So choose something that has a high payout. Above $30 is usually reasonable.
Affiliate marketing is a good starting point if you’re looking to boost traffic to your site and form a partnership with someone who is already established within their niche market. Whilst it may not necessarily make you thousands and thousands of commission revenue each month, it’s certainly a good platform and starting point for making a decent living online.
